Provides specialized in-depth, legal and practical training in upstream, downstream and renewable energy from recognized industry academics along with experienced industry practitioners; and equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet current and evolving developments in the industry.

Deals with the complex issues that create the need to explore effective and sustainable approaches to the regulation of emerging issues of the financial sector. It addresses issues of financial insolvency, regulatory enforcement, corporate governance, and anti-money laundering.

Offers a unique opportunity for students to study in-depth the overlap between gender, law and discrimination in varied contexts, including employment, labour, disability, and human rights; and to understand the socio-cultural and socio-legal underpinnings of gender challenges within the Ghanaian legal system, and the international legal framework.

Courses include Bioethics; Public Health Law; Global Health Law and Policy; Mental Health; Gender and Reproductive Health Rights; Health and Human Rights; and Innovative Medicine.

Provides broad understanding of current legal, regulatory and ethical issues that arise in promoting and protecting human rights. Courses include Theory and Approaches to Human Rights; Foundations of International Human Rights Law; The African Human Rights System; Human Rights in Ghana; Refugee Policy and Protection; International Human Rights Treaties and Covenants; Human Rights Institutions and Courts; Human Rights and the Oil and Mining Industries; Disability and Human Rights; Gender-based violence, Gender and Armed Conflict; and Gender and reproductive health rights issues.

Designed to equip students with an advanced understanding of International Law and its impact on modern international politics. It will improve students’ capacity to engage with vexed questions in current global affairs that border on the normativity and legitimacy of International Law in areas like International Human Rights Law, International Trade Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Labour Law, among others.

Focuses on the responses of law to issues of modern technology. Courses include cyberlaw, Internet and digitalization, e-commerce, online privacy, data protection, telecommunications, e-governance, technology transfer, robotics and artificial intelligence law.

Courses include National Security in Theory; Managing National Security; Cybersecurity and National Security: Current Issues; International Criminal Law (Core Crimes and Concepts); Policing in the 21st Century: Law Enforcement in a ‘Digi-World’; International Humanitarian Law; International Criminal Law (Prosecution and Practice); Online Privacy and Data Protection; and Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Systems.

Introduces students to the features of maritime law, legal environment of the shipping industry, Jurisdiction, Ship Legal Personality, Ownership, Registration and Nationality of Vessels, Salvage, Marine Insurance, Pilotage and Towage,  Vessel-source Pollution and Compensation Claims, Port State Control, rules on carriage of goods by sea, charterparties, carriage of goods under Bills of Lading, obligation of ship owners, shippers and charterers, Limitation of Liability, Admiralty, Maritime Safety, Security, and sustainable use of Marine resources.

Advanced as a crucial sector for Ghana and Africa's developmental trajectory, this course includes the Political Economy of Natural Resource Regulation; Environmental Protection in Natural Resources Extraction: Law, Policy and Trends; Renewable Energy Law and Policy; Basic Geology of Oil and Gas; Environmental Aspects of Oil and Gas Law; On-Shore Mining Law; Regulation of Trees and Forest Resources in Ghana; Regulation of Inland, Ground, Coastal Water and Seabed Resources; Marine Ecology & Environmental Protection; International Maritime Conflict Management; Gender-based violence, and Law of the Marine Environment.

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

Provides innovative public service education for pre-career and in-career persons, with focus on the interface between law and practice of public administration. Aim is to open graduates up to relevant and specialised skills in law and public administration, public financial administration legal framework, legal basis of public administration, administrative policy development and implementation, labour and employment arbitration, the contract of employment, labour law and human rights.

An experiential learning programme that seeks to provide an opportunity for non-lawyers to acquire legal knowledge, practical and problem-solving skills from seasoned legal practitioners and academics that will enable them to provide a circumscribed set of legal services in the legal sector.
