Dr. Ama F. Hammond is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law, where she teaches the Laws of Contract, Equity, and Succession, among other subjects, and coordinates the School’s graduate programme. She is also the Deputy Editor of the University of Ghana Law Journal. Her research interests include legal pluralism, law and colonialism and the law of succession. Her publications focus on issues relating to law and society, emphasizing how law affects social change and policy, and how societal processes also influence law. She has worked as a Consultant and undertaken various research projects commissioned by national and international organizations in the areas of Contract Law, Traditional Governance, Peace and Governance, Children’s Rights, and Property Rights, among others. She served as a member of the Law Reform Commission of Ghana, and a member of the Joint Steering Committee of the Ascertainment of Customary Law Project (ACLP).
