Francis Ontoyin is a private legal practitioner and a Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law, where he teaches Law of Taxation, Company Law, Constitutional Law, and Law of Torts.

Francis is a dedicated legal professional a member of the African Tax Research Network. He holds a BA and LLB from the University of Ghana, Legon, and earned his professional law degree from the Ghana School of Law. Francis began his career as a private legal practitioner at Reindorf Chambers, affiliated with DLA Piper Africa in Ghana. To further his expertise, Francis pursued an LLM in Tax Law at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He joined Nurse Next Door, a Canadian multinational homecare company headquartered in Vancouver, as the Legal and Compliance Manager. In this role, Francis contributed to the Franchise Development team, where he played a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of all franchise agreements. His efforts were instrumental in supporting the company’s growth, which facilitated the expansion of the Nurse Next Door brand across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Francis served as a Legal Advisor and Contract Engineer for the West African Gas Pipeline Project, executed by Sinopec Petroleum International Company Limited in Atuabo, Ghana. He also played a key role as Project Coordinator, that consulted for Ghana’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (PID-MOFEP). This role involved developing a sector-specific Public Private Partnership toolkit for road infrastructure and establishing a “PPP Legal Hotline” to enhance support within the Ministry. Francis also collaborated with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a Project Design and Implementation Consultant, a project that evaluated the credit enforcement process under Ghana’s Borrowers and Lenders Act, 2008 (Act 773).
