Mr. Kwaku Boadu

Visiting Scholar



Kwaku Boadu is a visiting scholar with the University of Ghana School of Law, who exceptionally combines a very strong technology background and Law, and specialises in IT Law. He was a practicing IT professional for over 20 years prior to becoming a lawyer. His zeal, leadership qualities, people skills, knowledge and self-motivation are formidable. Kwaku’s formal education is in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and Law.

He is the lead designer and architect of the Ghana Bar Association’s IT Reform projects – designing software for legal applications, training and application-adaptation schemes to increase system usage among lawyers.

Kwaku has had a very successful career as a practicing IT professional, leader and entrepreneur, with specialty in nationwide secure IT Infrastructure for both broadband and narrowband data transmission technologies. He invented the Javelin™ technology for connecting schools in poor infrastructure countries. He received the Tech Museum Technology Benefitting Humanity international laureate award in San Jose, CA, in 2006 for Javelin™.

He has supervised the deployment of large scale secure WiFi networks as a technology leader, and was lead consultant for Ghana’s Tema paperless port project. He is an excellent technology trainer with profound understanding of computer software and hardware, legal, policy and regulatory issues of technology.

His early years’ work experiences were in VALCO (Ghana), Kaiser Aluminum (USA) and Standard Chartered Bank (Africa). He has worked as a computer programmer in scientific applications/firmware development for real-time, on-line process control systems, man-machine interface, machine-machine interface, secure transmissions, data telecommunication networks, IT project management and general IT leadership and brings these skills and experiences into contemporary issues of law and technology.

He is founding member of ITLaw Chambers, an associate lawyer of Kwame Gyan & Associates, has previously twice held CEO positions in technology companies, as well as board membership for the

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, TV Africa, and the Ghana Stock Exchange.

automatic feed control in an aluminum reduction cell, published by the Journal of Metals (PA, USA) in Feb 2010.
