MASTER OF LAWS (LL.M.) IN CORPORATE AND COMMERCIAL LAW & MASTER OF ARTS (M.A.) IN CORPORATE AND COMMERCIAL LAW
The University of Ghana School of Law postgraduate degree in Corporate and Commercial Law offers students a thorough grasp of a range of specialist knowledge in Corporate and Commercial Law. Individuals with or without a background in law will receive specialized legal training or functional knowledge to equip them with the knowledge and skills to navigate relevant work-related legal and other regulatory situations and to provide opportunities and substantive training for postgraduate research.
The overall objectives of the MA/LL.M Corporate and Commercial Law programme are to:
1. Enhance students' ability to participate in discussions and vexing topics around the normativity and validity of Corporate and Commercial Law.
2. Critique the universality and relevance of received learning on foundations of Corporate and Commercial Law.
3. Help students improve their skills and knowledge which can be applied in further study and legal practice in public service or industry.
4. Situate the issues of Corporate and Commercial Law in the Ghanaian, regional and global contexts.
5. Provide students with further opportunity to undertake research at an advanced level.
COURSE DURATION
One (1) Academic Year
Venue: University of Ghana – Accra City Campus, Adabraka.
Format of Course Delivery: Hybrid (concurrent in-person and online lectures)
Assessments: Timed Examinations (Mainly in-person), Researched Essays and Group Presentations.
Time: Mondays – Fridays: 5:30pm – 8:00pm

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
* First degree from a recognized University.
* Shortlisting / Interview
* M.A. – proven interest, exposure or experience in Corporate and Commercial Law.
* LL.M. – Bachelor of Laws degree or its equivalent.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE:
This two-semester programme will be delivered through lectures and small group seminars. Students will be assessed through presentations, assignments and timed end-of-semester examinations.
Students are expected to actively participate in topical seminars and contribute to discussions on pertinent issues in Corporate and Commercial Law. Research leading to dissertations and special papers are expected to be selected according to student interests. Industry practitioners will facilitate small group seminars to increase student exposure to market information, trends and industry needs.
Candidates require a minimum of 36 completed credit hours and a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0 to graduate.
