The second cohort of post-graduate law students of the University of Ghana School of Law (UGSoL) who pursued the 19 Twin LLM/MA programmes have graduated at a ceremony at the university. Major Daniel Ablorh Quarcoo, member of the coordinating council of the University of Ghana, who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the students for their industry.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to every one of you graduating today. Your perseverance and unwavering commitment have led you to this pivotal moment in your life. I salute you for staying focused despite the work stress and sacrifices. Your accomplishments are a testament to your hard work and dedication, and we celebrate you for this,” he stated.
Maj. Quarcoo encouraged them to make full use of the knowledge and network acquired during their study. “The world is yours to transform. Education, coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude is a powerful tool that can transform the world. The knowledge and experience should empower you to make a profound impact on society and the world,” he admonished the fresh graduates.
Mr. Samuel Ocran, an alumnus of the University of Ghana, chartered accountant and Group CEO of the Star Assurance Group, was the guest speaker for the congregation. He told the graduates “You have worked hard and persevered through every moment to get here. Believe in yourself; don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t. Trust your guts, and don’t be afraid to take calculated risks to achieve your goal”.
The valedictorian, Mr. David Dodjie Olaga, shared fond memories of their journey, recounting the stress, the fear, and the strategies they deployed to overcome them. “For many of us, this journey began with anticipation and perhaps a touch of fear. The demanding course work, endless research, and the need to balance professional and personal communication tested our resolve. Not only did we find strength within ourselves but also in our community we built,” he recalled. He encouraged his colleagues to make ample use of the knowledge they have acquired.
Present at the congregation were Prof. Felix Asante, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Robert Darko Osei, Dean, School of Graduate Studies, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizier Taiba Ameyaw-Buronyah, Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Mrs. Emelia N.K Agyei-Mensah, Registrar, Prof. Raymond Atuguba, Dean, University of Ghana School of Law, and the coordinators of all the 19 programmes.
