UGSoL holds orientation ceremony for 2022/2023 LLM/MA Cohort

The University of Ghana School of Law has kicked off activities to welcome the first batch of students for its new and innovative nineteen (19) twin LLM/MA programmes with an orientation ceremony held at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana main campus on Friday, 27th January 2023.

The orientation ceremony attended by more than seven hundred (700) students (virtual and physical) was organised to initiate successful applicants into the University of Ghana School of Law. It also served as a platform for the students to share concerns and gain more information about the new programmes.

Dean of the School, Professor Raymond A. Atuguba

Dean of the School, Professor Raymond A. Atuguba, congratulated students on their admission and highlighted that the novel nineteen twin LLM/MA programmes were industry-based and, therefore provided the opportunity for students to gain the legal knowledge required to get industry concerns and questions answered.

“Congratulations once again, on your admission to our prestigious university to study our new programmes. Our aim for these programmes is to introduce you to industry-tailored education that will influence your work when you leave here, leading to a forward-thinking society and nation,” he shared.

Professor Daniel Ofori, Provost of the College of Humanities

Earlier in a welcome address, Professor Daniel Ofori, Provost of the College of Humanities, urged all students to put their best foot forward and acquire significant legal skills and knowledge to upscale their industry.

“As the pioneers of these new masters programmes, I admonish you to be committed to the process and apply knowledge acquired in your respective programmes to your professional industry to make a difference. Remember that these programmes provide you with an opportunity to play a part in solving issues in our country and the world at large. Therefore, make this experience worthwhile,” he noted.

Professor Robert Darko Osei, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies

Professor Robert Darko Osei, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, reassured students of the university’s preparedness to provide an exceptional teaching and learning experience to aid students in gaining expertise and knowledge in their chosen fields of study.
The co-ordinators of the various programmes took turns to introduce themselves to the students and assured them of their readiness to give their best. Students were given general information with regards to their school work, thesis and graduation
requirements.

Lectures commence in February, 2023.
