Ms. Hannah Mawuena Afua Agbemenyale, a third-year student at the University of Ghana School of Law (UGSoL), is currently participating in an exchange programme at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg in Austria under the European Union (EU) Erasmus+ Programme for the Winter Semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Erasmus+ Programme offers students the opportunity to study abroad while engaging in diverse academic and cultural experiences. At Salzburg, Ms. Agbemenyale joins hundreds of Erasmus students from around the world, benefiting from an intellectually stimulating environment and rich cross-cultural exchange.
Sharing her experience, Ms. Agbemenyale expressed appreciation for the support received from the Erasmus coordination team, which made her transition to a new country seamless. “The courses I registered for are popular among Erasmus students, so the classes are interactive and engaging, giving us the chance to get to know each other and share our experiences,” she said.
She also commended the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) at Salzburg for fostering a strong sense of community among international students through activities such as trips, hikes, coffee meetups, and other social events.
During her first week, Ms. Agbemenyale had the opportunity to participate in the 2nd International IP Conference hosted by Professor Gudrun Zagel, which included an excursion to Munich, Germany. She described the experience as “an exciting way to kick off the semester and a great opportunity to connect with other international students.”
While adjusting to Salzburg’s unpredictable weather has been a challenge, Ms. Agbemenyale says she has taken it in stride, echoing a local saying: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.”
The Erasmus+ Programme continues to strengthen academic collaboration between UGSoL and partner institutions, offering students like Ms. Agbemenyale valuable exposure to global legal education and cross-cultural understanding.
