The University of Ghana School of Law (UGSoL) Moot Court Team placed 11th out of 88 participants at the International Bar Association International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (IBA ICC MCC) 2024, held in The Hague, Netherlands.
The International rounds of the competition commenced from 31st May, 2024 to 7th June, 2024. The UGSoL team successfully qualified for the international rounds when they met certain special criteria the competition rules demanded for in the absence of a regional rounds.
The competition consisted of two stages before the final selection: the memorial stage, where teams submitted written memorials reviewed by legal experts, and the oral submission stage, where participants gave oral presentations on assigned topics.
The UGSoL team achieved significant recognition, being the second-best African team and qualifying for the top 27. Additionally, they earned the First Runner-Up award for Best Defense Team and the Second Runner-Up award for Best Oralist for the Defense team.
