University of Ghana School of Law wins Moot Court competition

The University of Ghana School of Law (UGSoL) Moot Court and Advocacy Team, which emerged as national champions at the 2025 Templars Jessup Ghana Moot Competition, has presented the trophy and the medals won at the competition to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo.

The team was accompanied by Dr. Kweku Ainuson, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, and Mr. Augustine Kidisil, all faculty members, to do the presentation to the Vice-Chancellor. In attendance were the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gordon Akanzuwine Awandare, and the Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Adjei Mensah. Also present were the director in charge of academic affairs, Mrs. Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah and Pascaline Kuunzungla Songsore, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Documentation and Information Unit of the Public Affairs Directorate.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the team and the University of Ghana School of Law for the achievement and the hard work. “I am happy to see that the growth of UGSoL has not been at the expense of quality. We are proud of you and what you have achieved. We expect a lot more from you. Rest assured that we are with you,” she stated.

 

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Awandare, encouraged the team to continue pursuing success. “You have taken upon yourselves the challenge of setting a benchmark: you need to keep winning,” he said. Bernard Mwinyele Banoenumah on behalf of the team, made an undertaking to put in even more effort in the preparation for the international competition in order to bring home the coveted championship.

 

In the competition, the team, with a flawless record of four wins and zero losses, achieved a spectacular victory over the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). In addition to emerging as the national champions, Team UGSoL also snatched three prestigious awards – Best Respondent Memorial, Best Overall Memorial, and Second Best Overall Oralist.

The UGSoL team comprised Bernard Mwinyele Banoenumah, Elsie Eyram Akubia, Ann Aseye Donya, Andy Nyarko Asare, and Freda Elinam Ganu. It included two students who are faculty advisors. They are Liz Fafa Logan and Sarah Anane.
